Business director
DBB Group
Hong Kong

Jodi Chik plays a rare dual leadership role at DDB to manage both local and regional teams. As business director, she leads seven direct reports across both regional and local accounts, and nearly doubled her direct reports while achieving zero turnover in the past year. In fact, she is affectionately known as ‘mother’ by her colleagues.

Aside from being a well-liked leader, she has aided in growth for many key clients. One of her most notable achievements was spearheading the pitch and onboarding for F&B brand Lee Kum Kee. The campaign saw the lighting up of iconic landmarks in Shanghai, New York, Hong Kong, and London. The campaign achieved 62% of its social-media reach target 202% of its social-media impressions target—with excellent consumer sentiment to boot.

On top of that, Chik was pivotal in shaping the frontend and backend ecosystem for team Omnicom on the Mars Asia business by facilitating collaboration between different agencies with campaign development across nine markets.

When she’s not busy chasing growth for clients, she moonlights as a DJ. In an op-ed on Campaign, she said: “I realise that my side hustle has been anything but a distraction to my work in advertising. While DJing is a completely different creative outlet, I can confidently say that it has genuinely helped me with my day job, and vice versa.”

Chik’s side hustle goes hand-in-hand with her personal ethos that individualism should be celebrated in advertising. Relatedly, she actively advocates for authentic self-expression in the industry, encouraging individuals to bring their whole, unique selves to work.
